My California Adventure
So I decided that I was going to get out of Utah and actually do something for this year's fall break. Little did I know what was in store for me. The only car I could take to California was my little 1988 Honda Prelude... We have about an hour left till my friend and I get to Valencia (My cousin and her husband live there and we were going to stay with them). Im going down this huge hill, I have no idea where I am, there's huge semi trucks on all sides of me, and my battery light comes on. I didn't think it was that big a deal at the time, but then all the lights inside my car started going dimmer and dimmer. Then the lights outside my car started to go off too. Then I lost the power to my car. My gas pedal wouldn't work and Im coasting down this huge hill with all these semi's around me, its 4 in the morning california time, Im looking for an exit and freaking out. I find one with a gas station and coast into it. I turn off my car and when I went to turn it back on it wouldn't even make a starting sound, there was nothing. No one at the gas station was being helpful, no one had jumper cables, and I was pretty stressed out. I didn't know what I was going to do. Finally this nice guy came over and helped me jump start my car. It started, but when I looked under the hood it didn't sound right and my belt was moving very slowly. Also, my friend and my phones were practically dead. Anyways, the guy came back over and looked at my car with me and we discovered that the bolt that was holding my alternator up had snapped in half, and my alternator was now sitting at the bottom of my car. So we lifted it up, put a rock under the alternator to hold it up, re jumped it and got the car working again. Yes, I made it to California and through two hours of LA traffic by a rock. The guy that helped me told me that it would last until I hit a bump. I still have the rock, its my new good luck charm. I did end up having a lot of fun in California though and somehow my car made it back to Utah!
